Savage is the most slippery river I have ever fished. Big cleats and a wading staff are a must. Don't neglect the head waters of these reservoirs for brookies.

Looking for next weekend recommendations within an hour or hour and a half, the closer the better as "this is not a fly fishing trip" per my husband - close to Morganstown, WV, where we lined up a home exchange. 

Appreciate any advice on bodies of water or towns or access for fly fishing. Trout preferred but if close will consider wadeable smallmouth fishing - no boat access though we will be staying on Cheat Lake. 

Thank you for any suggestions - also willing to go to western MD but totally unfamiliar with that area as well as we are new in the mid-Atlantic.
