I'm not trying to advertise the shop but there are other options.  If some of you were in the shop this weekend and bought our rod tubes up then you probably found what you were looking for.  I have more coming in this week.

 

TFO triangular rod cases are thinner PVC so they don't weigh so much, covered in Cordura, and are triangular so bigger rod guides will fit, and they don't roll around in transit.  $29.

I'll echo Carl re PVC. Additional benefit of using PVC Schedule 40 pipe is that it'll hold up to abuse better than aluminum tubes. It would probably withstand you running your vehicle over it. (Abrams M1 tanks excepted)
