Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Suggestions for TROUT FISHING rivers

The Battenkill is in vermont and new york.  Fall is a beautiful time to fish that river but hatches will mostly be limited to olives, maybe some leftover tricos.  The tubers should be gone so that is a bonus.

If you are open to new york the adirondack streams can have good isonychia hatches in september/early october, as can the esopus in the catskills.

You can add the Deerfield river and Battenkill rivers in Mass.  Also the Sacco and Swift rivers in NH.

For CT, I've fished both the Upper Housatonic and the Farmington with guide Ron Merly - had a great time fishing with him.

If you're going to be around Southern VT, check out Peter Basta. I've fished with him before and know him personally, he's a great guide - http://vtflyfishingguide.com/

Pay attention to the season.  The general season might be closed by the time peak foliage colors have arrived.  Also, fishing when leaves are dropping can be challenging.

The major hatches will be over by late september, so think about nymphs or streamers if you are going later.

Looking for suggestions for best trout fishing options at this time of year.
