{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Casting Church, 14 Feb 2021

So, for a snow/ice leader for the upcoming Casting Church, should we tie rubber legs every couple of feet and dip them in warm water between casts?

Hope the weather gives us a break!

Best,
Owen

We will have our casting get together on Sunday, 14 FEb at Fletcher's Cove from 8am to 11am.
This is a great event to bring a date for Valentine's Day.

We will also help anyone with any particular casting issues.  Bring your questions. We will have some extra gear, no need to buy anything.  If you are curious about flyfishing/flycasting and are wanting to see what it is about, come on by.

So shad season is right around the corner, and for this casting church, we will focus on how to cast sink tips and sinking lines. So bring those tips and sinking lines if you have them. Our instructors will bring their setups as well, in case you don't have that gear. For the Mar casting church, we will focus on shad fishing. We will talk flies and line set ups, and then we will hike upstream to some bank fishing locations.

We will have a casting station for those who want to begin to pursue the FFI Casting Challenges program (see FFI website). This is a fun and low-key way to improve skills and get recognized by FFI and your peers for your achievements. It is a good way to also set the stage for eventual pursuit of Casting Instructor (CI) certification, if you are interested in that pursuit.

We will practice social distance.  Pretty easy to do since we are outside.  And since we are all holding fly-rods and moving them around, this separation tends to work out naturally.
However, if you are ill or suspect you might be, please respect the health of others and rest up at home.  There will be other casting churches, once a month at least.

Come on out, whether you are a novice, intermediate, or advanced caster, it is all fun to work on solving casting problems and casting challenges.
If you are just getting started, this is a great way to meet people who can help.  There will be casting instructors on hand.
If you are preparing for an upcoming trip and looking to re-fresh your casting skills, this is a great opportunity.
