{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: 4MR today 10-10-2016

Few yellow perch down there, but not much action overall.  Caught a lot more Friday, which was my first time in there in almost a year.

I felt bad for the kayakers banging around in there.  I would NOT have wanted to be fighting a NNW wind, at dead low tide, casting 1/4oz spinners into 1-3' of water, trying to keep stuff out of the muck and manage a boat blowing around at the same time.   Not my first choice!

Parked outside the Toyota dealership along the road next to the river.  Got told to move since they informed me it's a private street (and I guess it's parking for all the folks that work there).  Parked in the Pier One parking lot across the street and walked down to the river (about 0630-ish).  For the next 1.5-2 hours worked my way up stream, under the bridges and eventually about 50 yards upstream the bridges is when I caught something.  I tried streamers, wooly buggers....basically anything that looked like a baitfish.  Not a thing, I think I might not have been getting my presentation deep enough (just a guess)..  I eventually switched to a small white popper and started catching bluegill and a few bass about 10-20 yards from the shoreline. Did see another fly fisherman out there today walking the 4MR a bunch.  Seems he was catching a fish or two every once in awhile.  Like me....he seemed to be changing flies to try and entice some bites.
This was a nice bass that had some good fight in him for the size.  Seems top water worked starting around 0900, basically low tide.

Cheers
