one day I noticed our daughter's rat snake poking around a pointy wooden feature in his cage, and then begin to slide out of his old skin. The point held the skin right at the tip of his nose, and he just kept sliding out until he was all clean and shiny looking and the old skin was draped around the terrarium like some old panyhose. Amazing to watch!
I'm with you, Gene. Snakes are COOL!--
My favorite place to visit at the National Zoo when our girls were little was the Reptile House. My wife would go find something to drink and wait outside for us.
One of my favorite vacation memories is the time when my dauighters and I watched a water snake ingest a 8-10 inch yellow perch in the shallows. Very cool.
