{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Fletcher's This Weekend Without Sinking Line

Adding the 15 ft sinking leader to the fly line would be the best casting option, you could always use a weighted fly and add some heavy split shot above and " chuck & duck"   play with the amount of weight until you start hooking up.  not the best way  but can work.

You could try using a extra fast sink polyleader of the end of the floating line.  Or maybe add a bunch of shot?  Will be horrible to cast but might get it down.

I have had some very light bites fishing mid cove that I am guessing might have been perch.  You might be able to catch them on a floating line.  I have no idea what flies you would use if you were actually targeting them.

If it were me I would just share a rod if you have one with a sinking line.  Switch out flats style after every fish or two.

Is there anything to be caught this time of year from a boat out of Fletcher's with floating line? I know it's all about shad right now but they are down deep.

Hoping to head out with a buddy tomorrow for a little bit. He is a sporadic angler and doesn't have waders or a sinking line. Ordinarily I'd opt for the C&O or the Tidal Basin, but I'm not sure those are great options right now. Basically just looking for a chance to do some casting in pretty close proximity to DC with a reasonable chance of catching something. Would love any suggestions!
