Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Burke Lake

We got a musky by accident in 2011, think we flossed it. It was caught on a size 12 copper John dropper on a 5wt. Fish was about 3' long. I'm down for trolling though there anytime.

I went out to Burke Lake today to see if I could raise up a musky instead of getting in on shadness madness. I didn't have any success which I will 100% attribute to my completely janky setups making it difficult to deliver the fly to the right spots. Although I did get a follow from a small (12" - 16") fish that looked like a musky, but I guess could've been a pickerel.

Two questions: 1. Has anyone actually caught a musky out of there? 2. Has anyone seen carp in there? I saw one fish that appeared to be the right shape and size for a carp, but in the short glimpse I saw him, it appeared a mottle black and white color, more like a cow. There seemed to be a few large shallow coves that might be some prime feeding grounds in the warmer weather.
