No luck in the same area for me yesterday with the same set up from a kayak. A guy fly fishing from the rocks along the dam didn't look to be having any luck either. A spin fisherman did tell me he caught a 4-lb bass on a floating frog in that area. Also noted he has had success with crappie in that narrow area from the boat ramp to the lake. Picky fish at Burke Lake.

Stopped by Burke Lake last Thursday morning after a breakfast meeting. Weather was iffy, so I just fished from shore versus launching my kayak. I caught a few bluegills as I fished across the dam (the fishing only access entry is great off of Ox Road). Near the East end of the dam, I swapped flies to a popper with a nymph dropper (small green caddis beadhead), and about 50 feet from shore, started catching crappies every other cast. Very aggressive takes on the dropper fly, almost nothing on the surface. I had been to Burke many times before and not connected with Crappies there.
