{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: What happened to the Occoquan?

The fall run for the Striper last years was fantastic!! Myself and a friend were catching 15- 20 fish each every evening this time last year. I was down last Saturday and didn't see a single Striper and the water flow was nonexistent. Plenty of LMB though. With the recent lack of rain fall the occoquan reservoir has not had the high water levels they had this time last year. Hence they aren't releasing water. The current is what draw the Stripers up river where they trap bait fish by the water treatment facility, but you know this already =o). If you see any current down there please email me. Have you see Striper anywhere else? I've been catching schoolies at Gravely Point but its just not the same. Happy fishing and tight lines mate!

I have been watching the river all year.  It was flowing normally this past spring.  Starting in the summer there was not any flow coming from the dam.  I am still watching the river and the flow has not started back up coming from the dam.

This has had a direct effect on the fishing in the back part of the river.  It has really made conditions poor and the fish aren't biting well.

Does anyone have any idea what happened to the water flow?  I hope it comes back soon because I was catching stripers pretty good last year.  This year I can't find them back there.  I want my current back!!!!!
