CLIENT DOMAIN: INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT FIRM
MAJOR RESPONSIBLITIES AND DUTIES
Establish body of knowledge and domain expertise to serve as firm-wide focal point for technology change management capabilities
Maintain deep understanding of Business Segment strategies, issues, plans and relative priorities
Provide inputs integral to supporting the establishment of Project Approach and Solution Design meetings with key stakeholders and technology domain leaders to review overall technology delivery effectiveness
Partner with Business Analysts and Business Partners to provide end-to-end services from planning to execution of technology solutions for Business Segments
Provide support to the management and facilitation of regular Business Segment review of IT Performance
Execute best practices to deliver optimal technology solutions for Business Segments, including support and leadership in the following:
Program Portfolio Management
Support the development, delivery, and on-going enhancement of standards, templates and tools for effective Program Management
Assist the PMO with facilitating management allocation of IT assets and resources across various programs and projects to achieve optimal "portfolio" performance
Effectively incorporate best practice Stage-Gate methods, activities, and tools into project management discipline
Contribute to preparation of project reviews and executive reporting, and developing program-level presentations to senior management
Project Management
Ensure project management activities conform to defined standards and processes
Document project scope and requirements
Estimate project costs
Create detailed project plans, including work breakdown structures, project schedules, costs, and risk management plans
Assign and track tasks throughout all project phases
Monitor and report on project progress, including, cost, schedule, earned value analysis, issues and project risks
Manage project scope and change requests. Identify and resolve project issues, risks
Lead project steering committee meetings, effectively communicating project status
Manage project teams of technical and business resources (size depends on scope of project)
Ensure quality application design, including proper controls
Identify, track and resolve project issues
Assign and monitor tasks throughout all project phases
Coordinate with external stakeholders, including vendors and business areas
Plan and lead application testing and deployment
Develop and track project success criteria to ensure all project goals are met
Develop communication plans and execute during implementation
EXPERIENCE:
· Investment industry experience preferred
· Typically 6+ years experience leading to successful demonstration of competencies as presented above
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
· Broad knowledge of Investment Management industry operations, investing strategies, distribution channels and business control and support functions – with specific, in-depth knowledge of the business model and its Business Segments.
· Broad knowledge of IT, including experience in Change Management, Business Systems Analysis
· Solid technology background, including an understanding of technology-governance frameworks, and applications used in financial services
· Effectively build strategic relationships with a broad group of stakeholders in order to foster trust and influence key decisions
· Ability to display independent judgment to make decisions where no clear precedents exist; adjusts plans and deliverables with the right approvals and the business goals in mind. Ensures that all standards are followed and controls are adequately designed and implemented.
· Broad experience managing IT projects and mentoring / leading technical staff
· Ability to work in a disciplined development environment, including the use of a project management methodologies and system development lifecycles
· Possesses solid technology background, including an understanding of current technology concepts, to work with engineers
· Exceptional communication skills, written and oral, with demonstrated ability to create free-flowing information environment
· Strategic thinker; processes information through a strategic lens and applies tenants of systems thinking to issues/assignments
· Utilizes and exhibits systematic thinking; get results by using systems and processes

Project specific skills and responsibilities:
· Project tasks, timeline and progress tracking
· Product budget tracking
· Coordination with local and remote IT personnel, vendors and end users
· Technical knowledge in the areas of servers, storage, backups, networking, security, intelligent infrastructure services, data architecture and applications architecture
· Work with IT team to implement governance process and procedure for managing authorization, authentication and permission of data and applications
· Work with IT team to develop policy around mobility and BYOD "Bring your own device" and the implementation of an infrastructure to support the policy.
