Come join TPFR for an informal day fishing on the Rappahannock River in Fredericksburg, VA Sunday October 15th. This was originally supposed to be an outing to Harper's Ferry on the Potomac.
However a large portion of route 340 in the Harpers Ferry area will be closed through December. This would create a logical nightmare. So I switched the trip to the Rappahannock River. We will be meeting at 11:00 am Sunday morning in front of the Red Dragon Pub at 1419 Princess Anne St. Fredericksburg, VA. 22401

We will be fishing between the I-95 and Route 1 Bridges
The primary target fish will be Smallmouth Bass however there are also Largemouth Bass, Snakehead, Carp, Catfish and Panfish in the same portion of the Rappahannock River
This is not an exhaustive list of what to bring, just some recommendations.
Fly rods: 6wt to 8wt: floating line: you may want to have a sink tip with you.
Flies: WoolyBuggers, Clouser Minnow, C K baitfish, Claw Dad, Poppers, and Zonkers. Other patterns which imitate crayfish, minnows and hellgrammites
Wading staff
Waders
Self inflating life vest
Cleated wading shoes
Head lamp
Drinks and snacks
Sun screen
Bug spray
Polarized sunglasses
Change of clothingValid Virginia FreshWater Fishing License https://dwr.virginia.gov/licenses/
Wading anywhere in the Rappahannock is potentially dangerous; do so at your own risk. I highly recommend bringing a wading staff and cleated wading shoes. Many parts of the water bottom in portion of the Rappahannock are sloping, rocky and slick
Other potential dangers and hazards in this area are
Poison Ivy
Stinging Nettles
Venomous snakes- there are Copperheads in this area.
The date for this trip is subject to change. Primarily if we have poor weather and/or river conditions. I will post any date changes on the listserv.
If anybody has any questions and or concerns. Either respond to this email and/or feel free to text me or email me directly.
