{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: POTOMAC SHAD UPDATE??

Went out in my canoe this afternoon with my dad, got into a few shad and maybe a few herring.  Picture attached below, can anyone tell if that's a herring or a hickory?

I didn't spend much time with the shad though, because I was intent on chasing stripers.  There were a ton of little fish jumping around us, and I figure they were trying to get off the menu at the striper buffet going on beneath us, so within 15 minutes of getting there I tied on the "bleeding shad" half and half I tied up this week.  Caught three stripers in 2 hours, the biggest is in the picture below.  Not a pig, but left me happy.
