-- I neglected to add another way to wreck your rod is to fall down while fighting a fish and letting go of the rod. In my case, the smallie in question swam off with the whole rig, rod/reel/line. My all-time fishing screwup. In normal conversation I would express this considerably more indelicately. ;-)
