Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: single malt and fly fishing

I am seeing an emerging event take shape here.

I share Trent's shock and dismay that this great fishing forum has been converted to a discussion on Scotch.  Since it is obvious I can not save you from yourselves:) Catoctin Creek is a local Purcellville Va distillery that has won awards for its Rye.  It has been the final cast of many Potomac River floats and is always a savory way to end a day fishing.  Trying the local offerings is always a good time.

Macallan 18. More for the tradition than for the taste.

I toured the Wasmunds distillery yesterday after hiking in SNP. It was really cool to see the floor malting and to actually stand in the kiln! It was a very hands on tour....but no tasting allowed. We remedied that by purchasing five 750ml bottles between the four of us. Great way to by local if you ask me.

They still having the home aging casks scott. I bought the 124 proof malt to experiment with.

Cheers!

Well its not Scotch but its local and single malt. Wasmunds Single Malt Whisky from Sperryville...been sipping away at a bottle for over a year now. Not easy to get.

While we wait for the river to clear and the stripers to show, what might your favorite Scotch whiskey be before, during or after fly fishing?

One vote for Talisker.
