I wanted to send you the requirement for an Oracle DBA position I have at IL, please see the job description below and let me know if you are able to help me source on this opportunity.  I currently have three consultants on this team and have a close relationship with the manager. 

 

Location: Lincolnshire, IL

Duration: 3 months

Title: Production Support Oracle DBA

Interview: 30 minute phone screen/ Mandatory in person interview, no exceptions.

Rate: 60-65/hr max.

*** Communication skills are extremely important ***

 

This DBA will be joining a sub-team of DBAs charged with supporting 4 major business units.  (These business units include E-commerce, PBM, and Retail systems, and Corporate systems).  

 

Responsibilities / Technical Skills required:

 

Experience with Oracle 11g, RAC, ASM, Data Guard

DBA experience managing multiple Oracle RDBMS on Unix/Linux Platforms

Data Modeling (with any tools, i.e. ERWIN)

Experience in the production support role (experience in the development support role a plus)

Experience in batch scripting (shell script, PL/SQL, Perl, etc…)

 

Expert Oracle OLTP experience is a must (I cannot over-emphasize this point).  This goes beyond book smarts – the interviewee may be required to white-board the solution of a real-life production support scenario.

Exposure to OLAP / DW is a plus.

 

Ability to interact with development teams, business owners, and various levels of management

Experience working with development and business teams to design database architecture based upon delivered requirements.

Responsible for implementation and release of database changes as submitted by the development team

Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases

Experience with database performance tuning and monitoring

Ensure high availability and performance (may eventually require 24x7 pager support on a rotational basis)

Experience working as part of a team that delivers a high availability service

Proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime

Provide trend analysis to enable the team to make informed decisions regarding resource management and capacity planning

Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout and upgrades

Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) is a great bonus!
