{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Shad Dart Feedback

I've been starting to get excited about the shad run and have been tying some darts with the materials I have on hand. I don't have any chartreuse, pink, or orange chenille so I went with as much flash as I could get. These are tied on a bunch of 1/32 oz jig head hooks I got on ebay. The tail is tinsel I got from a craft shop and hte body is just wrapped flashibou. On some of them I have this orange flashy stuff I tied in as a collar. They don't look like the one i've seen others use and the only way I'll find out if they work is if I try them but I wondered if anyone has tied anything simliar and had success? If so I'll keep batching them out, otherwise I may go out an buy some of the bright flashy chenille I see on most shad darts...

I've managed to still catch fish in those conditions in the little pool right at the water discharge, but that's about the only place that will still be holding water.

If this weather keeps up plan on ice fishing.  Otherwise I would stick to a tailwater.

But my dad's birthday is at the end of the month, and we normally take at least one guided trip a year to unfamiliar trout fishing territories.  We did some central PA locations last year (parents live outside Philadelphia), but I was thinking about hitting NY this year and maybe fishing the branches of the Delaware.  I know there are a TON of options in NY, so wanted to see if anyone had any experience/ advice on water, guides, etc.  We'll probably do 2 guided days of fishing, and as I said I was thinking about trying a float trip since we've never done one before (wouldn't mind doing 1 float day, 1 wade day).  I'm also not sold on the Delaware, I know there's so many more options.  We'll probably do it sometime in the late spring/early summer provided we can book at that time. Lastly, was hoping for <4 hour drive from Philadelphia area, but flying is always an option.
