Position Description:
The position is for an experienced—5 years minimum-- DB2 for z/OS DB2 DBA professional who has worked with DB2 V9 new function mode in a parallel sysplex with DB2 data sharing.
Responsibilities:
• In addition to the usual DBA skills such as object design and creation; back-up and recovery; and bufferpool tuning; the candidate should be very familiar with BMC database tools and utilities, physical data modeling, and SQL optimization and performance.
• The candidate will work with internal and external customers to analyze and determines information needs and elements; data relationships and attributes; data flow and storage requirements.
• The candidate should also be well versed with tools such as BMC, SPUFI, QMF, TSO, MS Windows, Excel, PowerPoint and Power Designer.
• The candidate should expect to be in the DBA on call rotation, meaning he or she will need to be available 24 * 7 for a one week period every eight to 10 weeks.
• The candidate will also be expected to provide onsite off-hours support for release implementation and various DBA activities.
Skill Requirement:
• DB2 DBA for mainframe/ z/OS
• Database Certifications as appropriate preferred.
Good knowledge of Q-rep and hands on.
Database partitioning
Database performance tuning.
SYsplex
Power designer
Application Support(Cloud environments)
Duration – 6 months

- The Job profile is for application support.
- The application is deployed in multiple environments Linux and Wintel. Should be proficient to navigate folders and able to perform file operations like opening, editing and should be able to perform deployments in either environment
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities
- Should have exposure to any programming language
- The application has application servers. Should be able to troubleshoot and handle the server to identify and resolve any problem
- The role requires to support the application, should be able to troubleshoot the problems and will require maintenance and deployments, reboot applications / servers.
- Identify operational issues when they occur and assist in their resolution.
- Should have experience in SQL writing simple queries
- Understanding of scripting language and able to write simple scripts (shell, DOS, VBScript etc)
- Basic network knowledge and troubleshooting skills (ping, trace route, telnet to a specific port)
- Basic understanding of Load Balancers and firewall
- Should have Excellent Verbal and written communication skills
- AS the project is being supported 24X7, should be willing to work in 24/7 shift model
Desirable Skills
Experience working in Cloud environments (Amazon Web Services or Verizon Terre mark preferred)
